Sorry for the Inconvience

It's been a while since I had my last post.... There's a technical problem in our internet connection the past days...

But don't worry...Here we go again...

Tomorrow, we'll be having our long run.

Day 44 of Training

(June 8).....A 40 minutes run in the same venue (Cebu Business Park at the back of CIC)..We're just doing fine even though we rested for 2 days. Cris manages to cover 3 laps smoothly, while I was able to finish 7..She wasn't able to keep up the pace with me because she feels some pain in the lower part of her left leg..But still she continues in her own pace covering a total of 5 laps.

It was definitely a major development for the both of us...That was our second 40 minutes run.

Tomorrow we'll going to add another 10 minutes on our run...At this stage of our training we're in the 40-50 minutes run...

Until the next run....

Day 43 of Training

(June 4).....LONG RUN..We just took the same route from Cebu Business Park to A.S. Fortuna then goes back to CBP....(Cris as usual in her folding bike)

Compare to the previous one where we had it in the morning, this time we held it in the afternoon at around 5pm. I covered the whole route for more than an hour and I had a lot of stops also. Maybe it is because of the traffic and of course we already eat a lot at the early hours of the day...But no excuses...I am not performing well this time..

The following 2 days was not that good because I was feeling some pain on my lower leg. So we decided to take a break......

But tomorrow we'll going to be back in action....RAIN OR SHINE, The RUN must go on......

Day 42 of Training

Since Cris doesn't have class tomorrow...We decided to have a break today then resume training tomorrow fully charged...

Tomorrow we'll going for 40 minutes run.

Day 40 and 41 of Training

40 (June 30).....It was a holiday here in the Philippines ( inauguration of our country's 15th president, Benigno Aquino III ). So we decided to go for biking (in a folding bike) to Lilo-an, a municipality located 17 miles north of Cebu City.

We started pedaling at 12:03pm (what a time of the day) and reach our point at 1:22pm....Then rest for a while before we went swimming.

This is one of our planned activity (cross train) aside from running.....

We opted for Lilo-an for some reasons:
1.) Not that far away but enough to give your lower body a fine tuning for the coming race day.
2.) We want to visit my father's relatives.
3.) Last but not the least....SWIMMING.

Note: Biking and Swimming were our official cross training sessions (I believe other runners too).

41 (July 1).....We now gradually add up our running time...This time we run for 40 minutes and starting to focus on pacing, stride length and stride frequency.... I've read from the site of Baldrunner (www.baldrunner.com) about stride length and stride frequency. From the start I tried to apply what I've learned but eventually slowly losing it as the run goes on...

But nevertheless I'm proud about what I've learned and experienced at that moment..It wasn't indeed an easy task...Just like what Baldrunner posted in his site that it requires patience, hardwork and determination for you to improve on your RUNNING....

Day 38 and 39 of Training

38.....After a long run from the previous day, we're not able to wake up on our desired time...So we decided that we'll have our recovery run in the afternoon...

It was almost 6:00pm that we started the run. There were not as many runners compared with the morning session...It was just an easy run for about 30 minutes, with breaks every 10 minutes...We're not pressuring ourselves too much because it was just an easy run..

39.....This time we're able to wake up on our desired time but the weather was not on our side...
Heavy rain greeted us that we decided to go back to sleep...Though I'm not saying that it's not advisable to went running on rainy days, we're not just prepared for now with this kind of weather, that's why we had just decided to add more time on our sleep..

From my soccer training, I remembered that we had a lot of rainy training sessions...We we're encouraged by our coach not to back down during this time...Because soccer games goes on even if it rains..

Just like in RUNNING,,,the run must go on......

So expect us that we will prepare for this.....

Until the next rain....

Day 37 of Training

LONG RUN....With Cris in her folding bike...We've just enjoyed it even though we've started at already 8:09am...You can really feel the heat of the sun at this time of the day......

It was about 7 miles as I may say...We've covered that distance for just an hour, and I feel better about myself considering I didn't feel any pain at all during and after the run... I guess I've improved...Thanks to Cris for being there from the start until this stage of the training...

Next Sunday...I'll run the same route and try to see if there are changes whatsoever...

Tomorrow I'll be going to have a recovery run for 30 minutes..

Day 36 of Training

REST DAY......We've just have to set our Saturdays as our Rest Day.... Because Cris (my partner in life) has school priorities at 7:00am...

But our SUNDAYS are already set for LONG RUNS.....So tomorrow we'll going to have our first long run together...Though I'll be the one who'll literally undergo the Long Run...Cris will still be with me with her folding bike...

Our route for tomorrow: Cebu Business Park right turn to Archbishop Reyes Ave.....then right turn to A.S. Fortuna right turn to Hernan Cortes...then right turn to F. Cabahug then goes back to Cebu Business Park...as our finish line...

Just wait for the update tomorrow...

Day 34 and 35 of Training

34....We started our cross training with a 15 minutes jog at 6:20am.

Our Cross Training session was based on my basketball and soccer background...(just an easy one).

We did 2 sets of (2 mins.) duck walk , 2 sets of (2 mins.) planting rice. 2 sets of (16 reps.) Ab works....and a set of 20 reps jumping jack...

We finished at 7:10am.

35....An easy 30 minutes run.....We just enjoyed our run even though we started late (6:35am). I consider this late because I have still work at 8:00am...We just enjoyed the company of other runners, the sweat, the scenery and the slowly rising sun.

Tomorrow we'll going to have a 40 minutes run....

So enjoy....

DAY 33 of Training

We woke up around 5am this morning and started the actual training at exactly 6:10am.

It was nice and easy 30 minutes run. What's nice about it is that I've meet a friend from my grade school years...not that close, but due to the fact that he's my cousin's former boyfriend, we easily engaged to a quality talk while running... It's so cool to know that he's also into running..It's a great feeling knowing a friend or a relative who's also enthusiastically approach running the way you do....

We've finish 6 laps ( at the back of CIC ) about 3 1/2 miles until he call it a day...because he still needs to accompany his son to school...I added 2 more laps then finished with it 5 min. recovery walk at 6:45am.

Tomorrow, June 23, our 34th day of training we'll going to have our cross training...a combination of my soccer and basketball background cross training....

Until the next time....

2010 MILO MARATHON Cebu Elimination

We've been preparing for this (together with my partner in life who will run for her first ever 5K) for about a month now. But that 30 days of preparation was not that great for the both of us (due to some unavoidable circumstances).

We still have 2 months to go before that big day. I think if we really want to be in perfect shape we'll have to focus mentally and emotionally for us to win the battle within ourselves. In preparing for a half marathon is not just a walk in the park, you should be prepared and work real hard.

This post is the first of our 2010 Milo Marathon Cebu Elimination preparation series.

Tomorrow we'll have a 30 minutes easy run at the nearby Cebu Business Park.

We'll keep you updated of our upcoming trainings and hopefully we can buy a new digital camera for some images of our training activities that we could share to you.

Alive and Running 101

If you're ALIVE, as long as you are able to do so there's no way you can't RUN!!!
